Quickly & Easily Switch Apps from your Mac's Menu Bar

About the Macarte App

Macarte is a simple utility for Apple Macintosh (Mac) computers which allows you to switch between running applications (Apps) by choosing which you want to use from a menu.

Macarte adds an icon to the Mac's Menu Bar which runs across the top of the screen.

The icon shown is the icon of the currently active application. Clicking on the icon presents a menu with some simple options which affect the currently active application, one more submenus for additional options and tools, along with Preferences to configure Macarte, and an alphabetical list of running applications.

The currently active application is marked with a tick, unless it is not the type of application which would appear in the macOS Dock, in which case no application is shown ticked.

Choosing an Application from the list causes the menu to disappear and that Application to become the active application.

Inspiration

Macarte core functionality of App Switching & Hide/Show App controls is inspired by and based upon the "MultiFinder" work in MacOS System software prior to MacOS X / macOS, specifically System 7.
